CMISS will fulfill it's mission by:

  • bringing together faculty, students, and business partners interested in sharing knowledge acquired through research and experience about current and emerging issues in information technology
  • the collaborative conduct of applied scholarly research
  • the facilitation of applied practical research within member firms
  • the dissemination of research results to all member organizations
  • developing ongoing learning activities such as executive education and professional development workshops
  • strengthening the relationship between business partners (employers) and students (employees) through field projects, internships and other structures

CMISS Goals

  1. To develop our intellectual capital by building a portfolio of innovative IT research—aligned with business leader thinking, key vendor investments and CMISS member company issues—with demonstrated business value
  2. Mechanism to achieve this goal: CMISS member firms (represented by a Research subcommittee) and OU faculty (headed by the Associate Director of Research) will collaborate closely on developing research projects and offering relevant workshops.

  3. To develop our human capital by providing opportunities to showcase student, faculty and business partners’ achievements in IT and mentoring students who are recognized for their capabilities and achievements in applied research
  4. Mechanism to achieve this goal: CMISS member firms (represented by a Personnel subcommittee) and OU faculty (headed by the MIS Student Group’s Corporate Liaison) will collaborate on ways to help MIS graduates realize their full potential, including their recruitment and development. Opportunities for increased member interactions with students will include the integration of the MIS student organization with CMISS, field projects, internships and online access to student resumes.

  5. To develop our social capital by encouraging effective collaboration and partnership between the university and its business partners on key IT issues and facilitating the networking of CMISS member companies
  6. Mechanism to achieve this goal: CMISS member firms (represented by a Membership subcommittee) and OU faculty (headed by the Associate Director of Membership) will collaborate to increase membership in CMISS, enhance interaction among member firms and improve member involvement in CMISS activities.
